Buildings with a story,
given a future.
We seek out remarkable real estate with history and character — from historic buildings to architecturally distinctive spaces worth preserving and reimagining.
Some places were built to last generations.
We make sure they get the chance.
The Artisan Architects is a small, hands-on venture devoted to finding properties that new construction can’t replace — and treating their craftsmanship, history, and quirks as the asset, not the obstacle.
Character over square footage.
If a building makes people slow down and look twice, we want to hear about it.
Historic Homes
Colonials, farmhouses, Victorians and period homes with original bones worth honoring.
Civic & Sacred Spaces
Old churches, schoolhouses, grange halls and meeting houses ready for a second life.
Working Buildings
Barns, mills, carriage houses and storefronts with timber, brick and stone you can’t buy new.
Distinctive Design
Architecturally unusual properties — mid-century, craftsman, one-of-a-kind builds.
Discover. Preserve. Reimagine.
Every property gets the same three-part treatment: understand what makes it special, protect it, then give it a purpose that fits today.
We research each building’s history, construction and setting first — the story shapes every decision that follows.
Original materials, details and craftsmanship are kept and restored wherever possible, with repairs done in the spirit of the original.
We find a new use that keeps the building alive — a home, a gathering place, a workshop, a stay — so it earns its keep for decades.
We see what others overlook.
Many buyers see an old building as a teardown or a money pit. We see a rare thing worth keeping — and we’re glad to talk with owners who feel the same.
- Respect for the building’s history and your family’s connection to it
- Interest in properties that need real work
- Straightforward, honest conversations — no pressure
- A plan to preserve, not demolish
Three visions in the works.
These are the kinds of places we’re setting out to build: old properties given a new purpose that brings people together. Each one will be documented here, before, during and after.
The Wayside Motor Lodge
A roadside motel and its restaurant, revived.
A classic motor court brought back to life: restored rooms with their original character, and a restaurant on the premises serving travelers and locals alike. A road-trip stop worth planning around, not just passing through.
Hearth & Harvest Retreat
Wellness on working farmland.
A historic farmstead reimagined as a place to rest and reset. Guests stay in restored farm buildings, eat from the gardens, and take part in the rhythm of the farm through workshops, harvest days and seasonal events.
The Artisan Commons
A 50+ village built around creating, playing and moving.
A community for active adults set in buildings with history. Homes surround shared spaces for making art, game nights and staying strong, so neighbors have every reason to get out the door and spend time together.
